Usually in old car and using aftermarket alarm, there is no dedicated switch to unlock door.
So people put a reset switch at a dashboard to unlock the door without pulling the unlock knob.
When I replace alarm into my car, I have extra reset switch and I use that switch as door unlock switch.
It's very convenient place to put unlock switch instead put it at dashboard.
